My name is Darien Liew. I’m a junior doctor in training, based in Queensland. I completed two years of housemanship in Malaysia prior.
This is my journey.
Background. Originally from Subang Jaya, I graduated from Monash University. For two years, I served as a house officer at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, a semi-government tertiary hospital in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
After housemanship, I continued on as a medical officer in the fast paced emergency department and subsequently worked as a locum general practitioner.
Seeking new horizons, I made a life-changing decision to move to Queensland, Australia, where I commenced my official tenure at Mackay Base Hospital in January 2023. I am hoping to train as a general and palliative care physician.
